It’s not just what’s within the walls that make the Savannah Convention Center captivating. Take a peek out of any window and observe some of the most phenomenal sights from the Old South and the new. Step out of the Exhibit Halls into the River Concourse to find a panoramic view of the Savannah River coupled with some of the world’s largest ships passing daily. Floor-to-ceiling windows, accented by the wood details of the Chatham Ballroom, showcase the sculptural Talmadge Bridge where massive ships from far and near pass daily. The adjoining Georgia International Gallery features an adjacent courtyard overlooking the river with impressive vistas of the city skyline, while soaring corridors adjoin 13 divisible Meeting Rooms, 4 finely appointed Board Rooms, along with a state-of-the art, 367 fixed-seat Oglethorpe Auditorium.

Exhibit Halls

  • Utility floor boxes (on a 30 by 30 grid – 126 total). Each box has:
    One 100A/208 V 3-phase receptacle (each on a single circuit)
    At the operable wall, boxes are located on both sides of the wall, fully powered boxes are on one side of the wall and unpowered boxes are located on the other side (the boxes are interconnected with empty conduit).
  • Interior columns (2 locations):
    One 100 A/480 V disconnect (one each column).
    One 200 A/208 V disconnect in each Exhibit Hall.
    One 100 A/208 V outlet (on truss directly above the column).
  • Heavy wall power:
    Four (4) 400 A/208 V disconnect located on each wall, one in Exhibit Hall A and three in Exhibit Hall B.
  • 1,000 watt metal halide down lights controllable by computer or manually. Lights can be controlled in groups of three to allow specific booths to use their own lighting rather than the room’s ambient light.
  • 500 watt dimmable quartz down lights that are controlled at a central panel.

  • Utility floor boxes – on a 30’ x 30’ grid – 126 total. Each has 2 category 3 voice connections and 3 category 5 data connections.

    Designated for music and video reinforcement.
  • Recording capability:
    Central recording capability provided in a separate room adjacent to the Exhibit Hall.
  • Paging:
    Individually zoned in each division or the entire Exhibit Hall. Paging through all Public areas and possible at main stations located in the Security Office.
  • Oversized doors
    Hall A – 15.6’ tall by 16’ wide overhead coiling door.
    Hall B – 30’ tall by 16’ wide overhead coiling door.
  • Empty conduit system – 6,700 LF Total
    A grid of 4’ empty PVC conduit interconnects all floor boxes (there is one empty conduit intersecting one side of every floor box). The empty conduit can be used to run extra audio visual lines, power, phone lines, plumbing or compressed air, etc., to any point on a 30’ grid within the Exhibit Hall. The empty conduit system is tied to the Main Telephone Room, Loading Dock area, and Exterior Service Yard north of the Exhibit Hall.
  • Rigging capacities
    500 lb. load along any roof joist on 15’ module. Joists are spaced 7.5’ O.C. so there is a 7.5×15’ grid of rigging points throughout the Exhibit Hall. All panel points may be simultaneously loaded as long as the maximum load at any point is not exceeded.
  • Floor load
    Floor is designed for a maximum 350 lbs./sq. ft. live load.
  • Ceiling height
    Minimum ceiling height is 35’ clear at operable wall head. Minimum at clear height below structure at the center of the room between columns is 50’. Minimum clear height below structure at the east and west sides of the room is 37’.

Meeting Rooms

  • One 100 A/208 V receptacle in odd number rooms only.
  • Two 20 AMP receptacles.
  • A fluorescent system, combining indirect strip lighting with fluorescent down lights provided for general illumination.
  • A dimmable incandescent system is also provided for general illumination.
  • A dimmable incandescent accent lighting is provided at the two permanent end walls of each divisible room.
  • Each separate type of lighting source is manually controlled within the room division. Group of rooms can be combined and controlled from one panel
  • One telephone (category 3 cable) and one data (category 5 cable) outlets in each room.
  • Eleven 2-strand fiber optic outlets in various locations.
  • One TV outlet.
  • Microphone outlet (rooms with end walls have 2 outlets).

Board Rooms

  • Audio line level out.

  • “S” video in.
  • RGB connection (computer input for video projector).
  • Teleconferencing capability (one way or two way) available with fiber optic connection provided.
  • Audio output connection (for camera audio or for audio recording at the rear of the room).
  • Rear screen projection system – 10’ high by 13’4” wide.
  • Audio simultaneous interpretation system – 2 interpreter booths in the mezzanine.
  • Six microphone jacks (hard wired) as well as wireless microphone system.
  • Remote control capability for audio/visual system.
  • Sound system high fidelity for music and voice reinforcement.

  • PSAV is the exclusive audiovisual provider for the Oglethorpe Auditorium.

Chatham Ballroom

  • 100 A/208 V receptacles (4 locations – one at each corner of the room).
  • 400 A/208 V disconnect (3 locations adjacent to possible stage areas on north, east and west walls).
  • 200 A/208 V disconnect (1 location – at main stage location on north wall).
  • 30 A floor outlets (8 locations – at head table locations).
  • 100 A/208 V disconnects (4 locations above ceiling – across from main stage locations).
  • A dimmable incandescent system is provided for general illumination during meeting, dining, and reception type events.
  • A metal halide system is provided for use during exhibit events and for housekeeping.
  • Adjustable angle accent lighting is provided for the three main head table locations.
  • Decorative accent lighting is provided around the room to highlight special materials and elements.
  • Each room division will have 8 preset options that will allow a user, with the aid of the Convention Center staff to program unique combinations at various levels of each type of lighting found in the room. Divisions can be joined into 2/3 or full room combinations and then the lighting can be controlled from one set of presets. Jacks are located throughout the room that allows for alternate controls points for the preset panels. A master controller that allows for the individual dimming of each type of lighting fixtures located in the A/V mezzanine. A second master controller can be plugged into one of the lighting jacks to allow for greater control from the event floor.
  • Eleven telephone outlets (various locations) with category 3 cable.

  • An audio/visual mezzanine is provided for use for either the center division or when the entire room is in use.
  • Rigging capabilities – 500 lb. Capacity on a 15×15 grid (45 locations).
  • Empty conduit – Two 4” empty conduits connecting the Ballroom to the electrical substation room below for future power
  • Oversized elevator – One 10’ wide by 21’ deep elevator connects the Loading Dock to the Ballroom back of house corridor. An oversized door (10’wide) allows access to the Ballroom from the corridor area adjacent to the elevator. 12,000 lb. Capacity.

River Concourse

The River Concourse is designed with efficient event management in mind.

The central location of this 10,000 sq. ft. space gives event managers a bird’s eye perspective on activites taking place throughout the Center. With abundant space, natural light and supporting utility/telecommunications throughout, the River Concourse provides the flexibility needed to stage and manage various functions, including event registration, breaks, and even large receptions.

For attendees, the River Concourse is a relaxed, spacious passageway linking all major spaces in the facility. A two-story atrium with floor to ceiling windows, the Concourse looks out on magnificent views of Savannah’s authentic 19th century waterfront and, through multiple entrances, proves direct access to both the river front Esplanade and the Exhibit Hall.

Georgia International Gallery

Just outside the grand Chatham Ballroom lies the Georgia International Gallery, overlooking the sparkling Savannah River through dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows. This is an unforgettable setting for cocktails and other meet-and-greet opportunities, and an elegant anteroom for even the most formal affairs.

Tondee's

Just off the River Concourse, Tondee’s offers a special retreat for more intimate event functions in the ambiance of a neighborhood cafe. Tondee’s relaxed atmosphere and numerous service amenities, including a fixed bar, make it ideal for daytime or evening receptions, presentations or simply socializing. Stepping through the doors to the riverfront Esplanade adds an outdoor dimension to any event at Tondee’s.
