Art Showcase Savannah

The Savannah Convention Center is pleased to announce the opening of Art Showcase Savannah, an exhibition of artworks featuring local and SCAD artists. The Artist Showcase is available to tour December 6, 2018 – May 21, 2019. The Art Showcase will kick off Thursday,

December 6th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. featuring hors d’oeuvres, live music and

area vendors. Complimentary parking, cash bar and live entertainment will also be available. The event is free and open to the public.

Many local artists are being featured with each artist having their own style, techniques, and media of choice. One of the main influences throughout the artwork is the local scenery and lifestyles of the low-country. Art Showcase Savannah hosts 18 artist including: Abraham Brown, Bess Ramsey, Cate Cox, Christine Crawford, David Michael Baldwin, Dottie Farrell, Eric Sanders, Elise Aleman, Janet Sheppard, Jeri Gale, Jody Wigton, Judy Johnson, Kathy Varadi, Nae’Keisha Jones, Patricia Geary, Richard Law, Shawn Bland and Sonja Robinson.

The Savannah Convention Center Art Showcase Savannah also features permanent exhibits of works from the partnership between the Children’s Hospital at Memorial Health and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire. This program is named Carts with HeART, and features artworks made by children and families of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire in partnership with the Savannah Children’s Museum. Another permanent exhibit includes a well-known Savannahian, Robert Morris, who’s locally inspired artworks are being featured overlooking the Savannah River. Morris’ artwork is inspired by the Savannah River and low country.

In addition to the Art Showcase, Savannah Convention Center will also host some of the areas most loved businesses for a Pop-Up Shop! Vendors such as 13 Secrets, Ghost Coast Distillery,

Nourish, Salacia Salts, Cecil Mae, Make Savannah, Mud Happy, D & S Custom Leather and the Salt Table will host some of their amazing retail items for attendees to enjoy alongside the Art Showcase opening. The Savannah Convention Center is excited to extend their showcase to include more portions of the Savannah community.

Meeting Room Ribbon Cutting

The Savannah Convention Center is pleased to announce the naming of their 200 level meeting rooms. On Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11am a short ceremony will be held outside the 200- 205 meeting rooms at the Savannah Convention Center. Each of the six rooms were named in honor of our partnership cities in the Savannah area: Garden City, Tybee Island, Port Wentworth, Pooler, Savannah and Chatham County. Partners have entered into a hotel/motel tax agreement for a minimum of 20 years to support the convention center and bringing more business and guests to Savannah and the surrounding areas.

The ceremony and ribbon cutting will be led by Board Chairman, Mark Smith and will include partner leadership. Having rooms named after our municipal partners was part of the strategic vision for the future of the Savannah Convention Center. Thanking our superb partners for their continued commitment and promise of success for the Savannah Convention Center and our entire hospitality community.

Savannah Reindeer Run

Saturday, December 15th the 9th Annual Reindeer Run will be held at the Savannah Convention Center. Attendees will STEP-UP & STEP-IN© for youth, run against bullies and make sure

everyone joins in the “Reindeer Games”. Participants will enjoy an 8K, a kiddie race, and lots of after-race games and activities perfect for all ages. There will be a Best Cookie contest among top pastry chefs in the area. One of Savannah’s best family-oriented run events, the Reindeer Run benefits the important work of the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire. Proceeds will support the Prevention Education program at the Rape Crisis Center which offers training for local schools, colleges and organizations.

Younger children will enjoy a FREE kiddie race beginning at 8:45 a.m. The 8K for youth and adults will begin at 9:00. $30 race entry fee for the 8K, which includes a T-shirt, shrimp and girts, beer (21 & older), and post-race festivities. Prizes will be awarded to youth with most funds raised. Prizes will also be awarded to best overall in women and men in each age category.

Pretty Princess Parties

Princesses numbering ten or more will  meet at the  Savannah Convention Center  on Saturday, December 15th beginning at 9am to celebrate each other. Hosted by Pretty Princess Parties, these beautiful Princesses will provide a magical experience you and your family will not want to miss. You will be  able  to  dance  with Cinderella, read with Rapunzel, share sweets with Tinkerbell, and craft with Elena to name a few of the activities this event hosts. Each child will feel like royalty during this wonderful event. Be sure to visit their website to learn more and purchase your tickets before they are all gone!
